Wood
Printing is the best-equipped commercial printer in Decatur, IL. The
Heidelberg Speedmaster press handles 40-inch sheets in up to six colors.
This means Wood can print your 16-page booklet on one sheet (8 pages
on each side) which saves you press time and money. The 6 colors can
include 4-color CMYK plus two custom colors, such as a special logo
color.
The Heidelberg press is a “perfecting
press” which
means it will print both sides of the paper at once. The press is
also equipped to do inline aqueous coating, which means the printed
page is coated in the press run after printing so drying time is
reduced and the printed page is resistant to fingerprinting and smudging,
making your print product more attractive to the ultimate reader.
Wood Printing is a “green” printer,
using soy-based inks and recycled paper.
Wood Printing’s Binding Department can
collate, stitch, and trim up to an 80-page booklet in one continuous
process. Wood can fold a tri-fold brochure and also do right-angle
folds (multiple folds at right angles to each other). Cutting, trimming,
folding, die-cutting, saddle-stitching, numbering, and hole-drilling
are all done in-house for quality control and fast delivery.
The pre-press equipment at Wood Printing Service can
handle Mac or Windows files as specified on the Pre-Press
Specs page of this site, with complete
direct-to-plate capability. Your print job can begin with a conference
with your trained and knowledgeable Wood representative or
your designer can use the specs on
this website. Custom-supplied artwork can be used if it meets the spec,
or Wood can conform it to spec at additional cost. Wood can also recommend
local designers.
Your print job is managed by Wood’s Apogee
X Pre-press Workflow System. This state-of-the-art system
provides comprehensive and efficient management of artwork and files
for each job from original data entry to completed press run and
job finishing. Your job is completed faster and more accurately.
Color consistency is guaranteed from customer file or original artwork
through the finished product. Wood Printing uses the Epson
Sherpa color proofing system to assure that the color
proof to the customer matches exactly what comes off the press, so
the “pictures
look right”. All Wood printing presses are “profiled”
(“fingerprinted”) so the customer proof will match the
printed product from any Wood printing press.
